The Abbey Design Process

  1. CONCEPT:

    First, let’s meet and talk about what you have in mind. Call or email us and we’ll set up a time to come to your home, take measurements and photos, and understand the scope of your project. Every basement is different, and the way you use yours will depend on your specific needs. We offer a FREE consultation to tell us about your dream basement.

  2. BUDGETING:

    After an initial consultation we’ll be able to provide you with an estimate for your project based on your initial requests. You can’t find a better price with the quality and dedication of the Abbey team!

  3. DESIGN:

    Once we’ve gathered in the same budget ballpark, we’ll start the design process. Abbey will collect a design fee for design work, but this fee is credited back to you at contract initiation. While we’re designing the layout, we’re also helping you select all the products and finishes for your complete basement remodel. Once we’ve put it all together, you’ll have a ready contract detailing the complete project for your approval.

  4. PREPARATION:

    Once you’ve approved the design plan, we’ll start ordering all those great products we’ve just selected. We’ll procure necessary permits and begin to schedule the tradesman for your project. We’ll keep you informed on the arrival of all major components, and let you know the date the project will start so you can get the basement cleared out and ready to go. We will introduce our installers to you so you can discuss the necessary details of your home operations, i.e., don’t let the cat out.

  5. INSTALLATION:

    The day you’ve waited for has finally arrived. Oh, wait, that’s the completion date. But, nonetheless we will have to make a little dust and noise to achieve your dream basement. The tradesman will be hard at work crafting the basement according to your design plan. You will find Abbey’s craftsman to be conscientious, personable, and respectful of your home and time. You can expect daily clean up and/or cover up to protect your home. An average basement demolition and installation takes 4-6 weeks. We’ll do a walk through with you several times to make sure everything on the punch list has been completed to your satisfaction.

  6. COMPLETION:

    So we’ve checked the last item off the punch list and you’re ready to put your new basement to use! We hope we exceeded your expectations and you’ll finally be able to enjoy your basement or a higher home value if you’re looking to move on.
