The great thing about bathrooms is that we have much more capabilities and options available today to improve the functionality, and make them more universal. Certain design aspects like non-slip flooring, handlebars in the shower, heated floors, or wide shower doors weren’t taken into account when older homes were built. But that doesn’t mean you can’t have them now!

There are no cookie cutter solutions, and our designs are personalized just for you. If you share a bathroom, then dual sinks and storage space could be priorities for you. During our initial consultation, we get to learn about the different functional “must-haves” on your list, and find ways to incorporate them into your bathroom remodeling design.

Did you see a bathroom you really liked on a home renovation show, and heard the designers describe it as an eclectic, traditional, or contemporary style, but you’re not really sure of exactly what that means? No worries. There are several different design terms used to describe the style of a bathroom. If you’re not sure of what your style is, we’ll be able to get an idea by seeing the different elements of other bathroom designs that appeal to you. Then, we can incorporate that style into your design and show you a design plan so that you can see what your new bathroom will look like. Unless you have a very specific style home, most people go for an eclectic or transitional look by combining the elements that appeal to them most.

The Abbey Design Promise

  1. CONCEPT:

    First, we will meet and talk about the bathroom(s) in your home that you are looking to remodel and your reasoning’s behind this project. Call or e-mail us and we will set up a time to come to your home and take measurements and photos. This will help us to understand the full scope of your project! We offer a FREE consultation, which gives us the opportunity to learn even more about your dream bathroom!

  2. BUDGETING:

    After your first consultation, we will be able to provide you with an estimate for your project based on your initial requests. To give you an idea, a 2016 National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA) Survey of remodelers showed the average bathroom remodeling project cost to be between $10,000 and $29,999.

  3. DESIGN:

    Once we have agreed on a budget, we will then begin the design process. Abbey Design Center will collect a design fee for design work, but this fee is credited back to you at contract initiation. While we’re designing the layout, we’re also helping you select all of the products and finishes for your complete bathroom remodel. Once we’ve put everything together, you will have a contract ready detailing the complete project for your approval!

  4. PREPARATION:

    Once you have approved the plan, we will start ordering all of those great products and finishes that we selected for your bathroom. We’ll procure any necessary permits and begin to choose and schedule the tradesman for your project. We’ll keep you updated on the arrival of sinks, bathtubs, toilets and other major components.We’ll also let you know the starting date of your renovation so that you have time to temporarily empty the space. We will introduce our installers to you so that you can discuss the necessary details of your home operations and other important information they will need to know before beginning (i.e., don’t let the cat out).

  5. INSTALLATION:

    The day you have waited for has finally arrived! – Oh, wait, that’s the completion date. An average bathroom demolition and installation takes 2-4 weeks. You should know that we’ll have to shake up a little dust and make some noise to rebuild and achieve your dream bathroom. Rest assured that we will try our best to keep the disruption to a minimum, though. You will find Abbey’s craftsmen to be conscientious, personable, and respectful of your home and time. Your tradesman will be hard at work crafting your bathroom according to your design plan. You can expect daily clean ups and/or cover ups to help protect your home. We’ll do a walk through with you several times to make sure everything on the punch list has been completed to your satisfaction!

  6. COMPLETION:

    After we have checked the last item off the punch list and have confirmed that you are satisfied, you will then be ready to have your new and beautifully renovated bathroom back to yourself! We hope we exceed your expectations and we hope that you’ll enjoy better days in your bathroom or a higher home value if you’re looking to sell your current home and move on to a new home.
