We separate and recycle trash, we use computers and watch TV in the kitchen, and of course we gather with our friends and family. The way you use your new kitchen is key to planning your kitchen remodeling, and Abbey designers will make it function to suit your fancy. If you like to entertain and have guests throughout the kitchen, then you may want to have a more open space with a kitchen bar for additional seating. However, if you enjoy cooking frequently and use lots of different tools, easy access and storage space will be a top priority. You probably already have some idea of what overall style you like in your home. Do you prefer the clean and simple look of modern kitchens, or do you like a more rustic look? There are lots of design terms to classify your taste, but don’t worry if you can’t recite each theme by name. The Abbey Design Process

  1. CONCEPT:

    First, let’s meet and talk about what you have in mind. Call or email us and we’ll set up a time to come to your home and take measurements, photos, and delve into a further understanding of your project’s scope. We want to acquire all the information possible from you and your house’s foundation in order to make your dream kitchen a reality. We also offer a FREE consultation to tell us about your ideal kitchen concept.

  2. BUDGETING:

    After an initial consultation we’ll be able to provide you with an estimate for your project based on your initial requests. To give you an idea, a 2016 National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA) Survey of remodelers showed the average kitchen remodeling project cost to be between $20,000 and $49,999.

  3. DESIGN:

    Once we’ve gathered in the same budget ballpark, we’ll start the design process. Abbey will collect a design fee for design work but this fee is credited back to you at contract initiation. While we’re designing the layout, we’re also helping you select all the products and finishes for your complete kitchen remodel. Once we’ve put it all together you’ll have a ready contract detailing the complete project for your approval!

  4. PREPARATION:

    Once you’ve approved of your plan we’ll start ordering all those great products and finishes that we selected for your kitchen. We’ll procure necessary permits and begin to schedule the tradesman for your project. We’ll keep you informed on the arrival of cabinets, sinks, dishwashers, refrigerators and other major components. We’ll also let you know the starting date of your renovation so you can to plan a temporary kitchen evacuation. We will introduce our installers to you so you can discuss the necessary details of your home operations and anything you deem important of mentioning(i.e., don’t let the cat out).

  5. INSTALLATION:

    The day you’ve waited for has finally arrived! – Oh, wait, that’s the completion date. An average kitchen demolition and installation takes 2-8 weeks. Naturally, we’ll have to make a little dust and noise in order to achieve your dream kitchen. Rest assured that we will try out best to avoid disturbing the peace as much as possible. You will find Abbey’s craftsmen to be conscientious, personable, and respectful of your home and time. You can expect daily clean up and/or cover ups to help protect your home. We’ll do a walk through with you several times to make sure everything on the punch list has been completed to your satisfaction.

  6. COMPLETION:

    After we have checked the last item off the punch list and have confirmed that you are satisfied, you’re ready to have your kitchen back to yourself! You’ll be slicing and dicing delicious treats for you and 20 of your best friends in no time! We hope we exceeded your expectations and you’ll enjoy better days in your kitchen or a higher home value if you’re looking to move on.
