There’s nothing more disappointing than eagerly opening a bottle of wine that you’ve been saving for years, only to find out that it went bad. All those years of patience goes right down the drain along with the wasted wine. Unfortunately it happens all the time, and it’s usually because of improper storage.

But a wine cellar isn’t only about temperature control. There are plenty of other features like finishes, wine racks, ceiling design, and cabinetry that will shape your cellar. Our designers will pull all of this together to give you your dream wine cellar!

We’ll take care of the functionality with insulation, climate control, lighting, and everything else that keeps the atmosphere ideal for storing your collection of whites and reds. For the design portion, we’ll work with you to make sure the cellar fits your style.

Style

All wine cellars don’t have to look the same. Just like your kitchen, bathroom, and other parts of your house, you can add your style and personality into your cellar too.

In order to find your style, we can show you different examples of wine cellars and see which elements appeal to you the most. Once we have a good picture of what your style is, we’ll pull it together to make a custom design plan for you.

Finish

Wine cellars can have a variety of finishes. Everything from the type and color of flooring, cellar door, cabinetry, wall coverings, and fixtures personalize your cellar. Our designers will help you choose the perfect finishes to go with the style of your cellar, and also keep functionality in mind.

The Abbey Design Process

CONCEPT:

First, let’s meet and talk about what you have in mind. Call or e-mail us and we will set up a time to come to your home and take measurements and photos. This will help us to understand the full scope of your project! We offer a FREE consultation, which gives us the opportunity to learn even more about your ideal wine cellar options!

BUDGETING:

After your first consultation, we will be able to provide you with an estimate for your new wine cellar based on your initial requests. You can’t find a better price with the quality and dedication of the Abbey team!

DESIGN:

Once we have agreed on a budget, we will then begin the design process. Abbey Design Center will collect a design fee for design work, but this fee is credited back to you at contract initiation. While we’re designing the layout, we’re also helping you select all the products and finishes for your complete wine cellar remodel. Once we’ve put everything together, you will have a contract ready detailing the complete project for your approval!

PREPARATION:

Once you have approved the plan, we will start ordering the flooring we’ve selected. We’ll procure any necessary permits and begin to choose and schedule the tradesman for your project. We’ll keep you updated on the arrival of major components and let you know the starting date of your renovation so that you have time to temporarily empty the space. We will introduce our installers to you so that you can discuss the necessary details of your home operations and other important information they will need to know before beginning (i.e., don’t let the cat out).

INSTALLATION:

The day you have waited for has finally arrived! – Oh, wait, that’s the completion date. Rest assured that we will try our best to keep all disruption to a minimum. You will find Abbey’s craftsmen to be conscientious, personable, and respectful of your home and time. Your tradesman will be hard at work crafting your wine cellar according to your design plan. You can expect daily clean ups and/or cover ups to help protect your home. We’ll do a walk through with you several times to make sure everything on the punch list has been completed to your satisfaction!

COMPLETION:

After we have checked the last item off the punch list and have confirmed that you are satisfied, it’s time to clink glasses in celebration! We hope we exceeded your expectations and you’re in love with your wine cellar, but don’t keep it all to yourself.
