On May 6, 2015, Windstar Cruises officially welcomed the second of three ex-Seabourn ships to its fleet with the debut of the 212-passenger STAR BREEZE. The ship’s Godmother Wendy Perrin, well-known travel journalist and TripAdvisor’s first-ever Travel Advocate, broke a traditional bottle of champagne over the bow at a ceremony in Nice, France. Built in 1989 for Seabourn Cruise Line as the SEABOURN SPIRIT, along with sisters SEABOURN PRIDE in 1987 and SEABOURN LEGEND in 1992,  the vessel was given an extensive $8.5 million overhaul of all public rooms, dining venues and suites before joining Windstar. In 2013, Windstar’s deep-pocketed parent company, Denver-based Xanterra Parks & Resorts, purchased the three Seabourn ships from Seabourn parent Carnival Corp. The STAR PRIDE debuted for Windstar in May, 2014, and the STAR LEGEND will do the same on May 25, 2015, joining the line’s existing three motorized sailing yachts: the 148-passenger WIND SPIRIT, 148-passenger WIND STAR and 312-passenger WIND SURF, a trio known for their casual elegance and yachty ambience. Meanwhile, Seabourn Cruise Line continues to grow by building newer and bigger ships — the 450-passenger SEABOURN ODYSSEY, SEABOURN SOJOURN and SEABOURN QUEST, all built between 2009 and 2011, and the upcoming larger 604-passenger SEABOURN ENCORE Encore and SEABOURN OVATION.
